A neighbor? A shopkeeper? A colleague?

Meeting up with your roommate’s ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend may appear treacherous and confusing to some, but very rewarding for my stomach. I rekindled this awkward familiar relationship by creating small talk about the freshness of seasonal produce and voila, we were making dinner together last week. Complementing coconut milk fried rice and shrimp and potato curry, I brought in some lamb chops marinaded in garam masala sauce as a main course with cherries for a post-dinner palate cleanser. Recreate this simple dish below.

Grilled Masala Lamb Chops
8 Lamb chops (Each 3/4 thick)
4 teaspoons of garam masala
2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
2 – 3 teaspoons coarse salt
3-4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons sour cream*
Cilantro springs for garnish

Directions
1. Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
2. In a bowl, combine garam masala, salt, and pepper. Stir it so the spices are mixed, then start spooning in the sour cream. Make sure to mix it evenly with the spices so it makes an orange-ish cream.
3. Throw in lamb chops one by one, coating each one with the sauce. Marinade over night.
4.  Grill chops until they reach desired doneness. I took 3-4 minutes per side for medium chops. Serve immediately garnished with cilantro.

*Can substitute sour cream for greek yogurt or leb
